Azov Battalion attended an oath of allegiance ceremony at Sofiyska Square, Kyiv, before they were sent to Eastern Ukraine. All of the members are volunteers and battalion already became famous for swift liberation of city of Mariupol and several other towns and settlements.
Antiterrorist operation forces took control of the town of Novy Svet in Starobeshevsky district at Donetsk region. Deputy commander of the Public Relations special battalion "Azov" Igor Mosiychuk wrote this on his Facebook page.
He said that throughout the night and morning continued positional battles between battalion "Azov", 39th battalion of territorial defense and group of terrorists that are in Novy Svet (here is a strategic facility - Starobeshevskaya TPP). According to Igor Mosiychuk, pro-Russian terrorists used military multiple rocket launchers "Grad" and mortars against Ukrainian forces.
"As a result of the battle at this moment the town of Novy Svet is under full control of the battalion "Azov" and the Ukrainian Army. Column of terrorists came out from the town and disperse maneuvering in the vicinity. Starobeshevskaya TPP is now controlled by Ukrainian law enforcment officers. There are no losses of Ukrainian soldiers or soldiers of the National Guard battalion "Azov""- added Igor Mosiychuk.
Speaker of Information and Analytical Center of NSDC Andrei Lysenko said that for the last day in the area of counter-terrorism operation 10 soldiers were killed and wounded 55 more.
"As a result of the hostilities during the day 10 members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were killed and 55 injured," - he said.
He noted that all the victims are now in medical institutions where they are given the necessary assistance. Andrei Lysenko also said that for the last day aviation of ATO made 10 sorties and artillery carried out five massive fire strikes on militant positions.
He drew attention to the fact that the forces continue to suffer shelling their positions from the Russian Federation. Last day Russians fired on the positions of Ukrainian security forces near the village of Luhansk on Saur-Mohyla, and checkpoint "Krasna Talovka."
