Pro-Russian separatists in the rebel stronghold of Donetsk have shelled the city's airport, which is under the control of Ukrainian government forces.
The rebels have regrouped in Donetsk as the Ukrainian military has retaken territory in the country's east. The rebels have not yet broken through to the airport.
Military spokesman Vladyslav Seleznyov said government forces had regained the town of Siversk, east of Slovyansk, when separatists fled on June 10. A separatist statement confirmed the government's version, saying it was "more or less correct."
Seleznyov said Ukrainian troops guarding Donetsk's international airport came under mortar fire on July 10 but the rebel attack was repelled.
Rebels seized the airport in May but Ukrainian forces recaptured it after a battle in which dozens of people died.

Battalion "Vostok" has plenty bullets in their stocks but almost none mines. They have mortars, ATGMs/MPADSs, 7 APC-BRDM, (most of them old and in bad shape), 5 Anti Aircraft (AA) guns with limited amount of ammo.
