The possibility of Ukraine's NATO membership should be considered only by the Ukrainian people and the members of the alliance without other countries’ interference.
U.S. State Department spokesperson Marie Harf stated commenting on the non-aligned status of Ukraine abolition, reports Radio Svoboda.
"Our policy on the question of future NATO enlargement, I think is consistent - the door is open. Countries that are willing to contribute to security in the Euro-Atlantic space are welcomed to apply for membership. Each application will be considered on its merits. Obviously, any decision on potential NATO membership is one for Ukraine and NATO to make. We fully support the open-door policy."
