The Russian armored unit of up to a battalion with tanks and armored vehicles struck the road between Starobesheve - Kuteynikove from the area of Amvrosiivka. The road has been cut. This means that our troops in the sector D did not manage to stop the onsurge of the Russian troops and the enemy came to the rear of the main forces deployment in the sector B that conduct the battle for Ilovaisk.
Russian detachments have destroyed one of the supply convoys of the Ukrainian troops - there are losses. I moved down that road yesterday. There are separate Ukrainian Army checkpoints, which, of course, will not be able to rebuff the assault of a battalion task force. URGENT measures are to be taken! The opponent's strike goal is the complete encirclement of the Ukrainian forces in the sector B. If the enemy forces that have broken through, will not be destroyed immediately the enemy will build up forces and it would be very difficult to knock them out of the area. The terrain in this area is very convenient for the defense. Little forces of the enemy could easily block the road. I and the other military experts have warned the top government officials repeatedly on the necessity and priority of our troops strengthening in the area.
The Russian command has to solve the problem of Ilovaisk recapture first. Ilovaisk is a weak point of the Donetsk enemy deployment, the key to the encirclement of Donetsk and the defeat of the enemy forces in Donetsk. After the enemy's unsuccessful attempts to dislodge the Donbas and Dnipro battalions and the army units from Ilovaisk during the week of our troops heroic battles for the town, another Russian unit made a crack-through of the sector D position. They want to make us retreat from Ilovaisk at all costs. The available forces failed to stop the enemy's fracture because four Ukrainian army detachments were shelled out by the Russian artillery in the border area and were removed from the sector D being weakened and suffering heavy losses.
There is no reason for panic. Such breakthroughs happen in wars taking in consideration that the battles in this conflict are of cellular nature. The Russian forces that penetrated our rear are also in a very vulnerable position and may be defeated by the Ukrainian forces. They do not have strong air defense and experience difficulties of ammunition delivery. But quick response and fast action should be applied.
I want all of us to understand that the Russian troops attack near Kuteinikove is the biggest threat to the forces of the anti-terrorist operation since the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
