Situation in the East Ukraine after Russian invasion (2)

(1) Despite ample evidence of their aggression, Russians continue to pretend to be part of proxy units: using the various flags and destroying markings and other evidence that they belong to the regular Russian Armed Forces. Their movements are all accompanied by covering fire, including Grad MLRSs and artillery. Spy drones help them adjust their aim.

(2) In Starobysheve, the hospital building was destroyed by shelling. The militants have also attacked the town of Komsomolske.

(3) Today at 13:00, Russian proxies shelled a checkpoint belonging to the Ukrainian army near the village of Frunze in Luhansk Oblast 8 times.

(4) ATO forces executed a number of precise artillery attacks on militant positions in the suburbs of Luhansk and destroyed one group.

(5) The Joint Chiefs of Staff have decided that the movements of Ukraine’s Armed Forces and volunteer battalion units will no longer be reported on.

(6) The Alchevsk Steel Plant in Luhansk Oblast lost all its power because of shelling and the enterprise has stopped operations.

(7) At a meeting with French diplomats, French President François Hollande announced that he will consider it “impermissible and inappropriate” if Russian military forces have in deed started fighting on Ukrainian soil again, as apparently has been confirmed by western intelligence services.
