Movement of the Russian humanitarian convoy through Ukrainian territory without Kyiv permission is unacceptable according to the American Embassy in Russia.
"We consider the breakthrough to be unacceptable without permission of the Ukrainian government even under the guise of a humanitarian convoy. We are now collecting facts. I think we can expect a reaction from Washington soon," spokesman for the United States Embassy in Moscow William Stevens says, Censor.NET reports citing Interfax-Ukraine.

"I will not speculate on this issue," he said answering the question whether the new US sanctions against Russia will be imposed in this regard.

Meanwhile, it was stated that the new United States Ambassador to Russia, John Tefft, is due to be in Moscow by the middle of September.

EU condemns Russia convoy entering Ukraine, urges Moscow to reverse decision

First trucks from the illegal Russian convoy reached Luhansk.

Russia's decision to send a convoy of aid trucks across the border into eastern Ukraine without Kyiv's consent or an escort of international observers is a clear violation of Ukraine's border, the EU's foreign policy chief's office said on Aug. 22.
