Ukrainian volunteer Azov Battalion first enter Donetsk.
KYIV, August 4 - The "Azov" and "Shakhtarsk" battalions on Monday launched an assault on Donetsk, Azov deputy battalion commander Ihor Mosiychuk wrote on his Facebook page.
Nevertheless, security officials said now preparing for the assault on Donetsk, however the operation itself has not yet begun. Information was given by Ukrainian National Security and Defence Council (NSDC) information and analytical center spokesman Andriy Lysenko at a briefing in Kyiv on Monday August 4th.
"As for now we do not have official information about the assault on the city of Donetsk. Preparatory activities are underway," Lysenko said.
Meanwhile, the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) forces have liberated the town of Yasynuvata in Donetsk region, which is an important railway junction in the region, and unblocked the roads that link the settlements of Dmytrivka and Diakove.
Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) information and analytical center spokesman Andriy Lysenko said this at a briefing.
"The liberation of Yasynuvata has helped reach Donetsk from north and cut off one of the important channels of supply of weapons and technology to terrorists," Lysenko said.
He said that the operation was currently underway in the city to detect and neutralize terrorist groups.
Fighting continues near the cities of Shakhtarsk, Horlivka and Torez between the ATO forces and terrorists, the informator.lg.ua online edition reported.
The resource said that at 10.00 militants resumed shelling of Ukrainian positions near Shakhtar using mortar units, BM-21 Grad multiple rocket launchers.
The locals say that in Shakhtarsk there are more than 300 terrorists, aged 35-50 years, mostly Caucasians.
In Torez terrorists do not let people out. A large column of civilians is waiting for a safe corridor to leave the city.
Fighting is also underway near the mine No.20. In Horlivka shots are heard.
